Reubuen! I love a good Reubuen sammy, One of the best ones I had was at Catners Deli, when I lived in L.A.
Sis, you got my mouth a watering, except I prefer beef over the turkey pastrami

So Do I but in a pinch the pastrami works and since I couldn't get past the price of the corned beef well.... Today I I put a little butter in a pan, laid the rye in, added some swiss cheese, turkey breast, slided onion, tomato, and thine bit of avocado, toasted it up slowly and YUM!!!
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">WOW!!!! Great work! Great combo too. Way to keep it honest with the swiss, too. A lot of times when making my own reubens I try to get cute and use muenster instead of swiss. No 1000 Island dressing? Was the Jewish Rye seeded or non-seeded? What kind of chips? You HAVE to have a dill pickle spear or two on the side too. Thanks for inspiring me to make a freaking reuben!Quote:
SO I purchased some lovely Jewish rye, swiss cheese, sauerkraut and because the corned beef was $7 a pound I went with the turkey pastrami...can you guess what I had for a late night snack???
ROTF!!! I did use 1000's island cause it just wouldn't be a Rueban w/o it...and the rye was seeded gotta keep up the roughage ya know!!! No pickle this time cause somebody had eaten them all and I had a few chipotle lime pringles just out of curiosity...they were nice!!!
I made a grilled cheese with shaved chicken breast and sliced iceburg radish
I like soups and Stews but I never liked tomato soup...wierd huh?
Naw...the condensed campbells is really nothing to write home about HOWEVER the Spudder has a tomato soup that has gin, worcestshire, mushrooms and bacon (a few other secret ingredients)and it is phenomenal...tastes more like a stew!!!
don't you guys know ya gotta dress it up..(tomato soup)..toss in a dash of cajun sunshine, use half can water, half can milk..a dab of butter..pepper...and after it is good and hot...pour it into a bowl..toss a few herb flavored croutons and a sprinkle of shredded cheese..and yum...
Throw it a hot cup of tomato soup and YUMMY!!!
And people would wonder WHY I call her MUM!!!
